October Events – Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and there are tons of ways to spread the word throughout the Asheville Community. We’ve rounded up several events taking place that benefit local and national breast cancer groups. We hope you’ll join us in spreading the word on prevention and early detection!


Every Weekend in October
Taylor RanchFest and Pink Corn Maze

Every weekend this October, Taylor Ranch is hosting RanchFest & Pink Corn Maze to benefit Mission Hospital’s Breast Program & local cancer care. Home to NC’s first 6-acre pink corn maze & haunted mountain trail, RanchFest admission also includes live local music, a children’s maze ad 7-acre old fashioned game field.

Party in Pink

A locally hosted Zumba in da Club – Party in Pink will be hosted at Scandal’s Nightclub from 7-10 p.m. Admission is $10 and proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Get out there and dance!

Pink in the Park

Biltmore Pare Town Square hosts the 3rd Annual Pink in the Park to raise money to provide mammograms to low-income women in Western North Carolina and to benefit Beauty Through Cancer as well as Ladies Night Out. The walk begins at 10 a.m. and registration is $25. You may register in advance or at 9 a.m. the day of the walk.

Swing for a Cause – 9:30 a.m.

The Country Club of Asheville hosts a Women’s Invitational Golf Tournament to benefit cancer patients throughout our region. Proceeds will be donated to the Mission Breast Program, a network of services and health professionals dedicated to supporting a woman through every step of the diagnosis, treatment, and recovery process.

Community Health Fair for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Ladies Workout Express is hosting a free community health fair for Breast Cancer Awareness Month Oct. 15 from 8-11 am & 4-7 pm. The health fair will feature cancer prevention education, nutritional and cardiovascular information, plus health screenings and fitness assessments led by professionals (including blood analysis, bone-density screenings and running evaluations). There will also be a raffle and walk-a-thon with great prizes from area businesses to raise money for the American Cancer Association.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

The 2nd Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is Saturday Oct. 20 at 10am in Pack Square Park! MSABC is the premier Breast Cancer Walk for the American Cancer Society. This event is a powerful, inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to stay well and raise money to help fight this dreaded disease with breast cancer research, information and services and access to mammograms for women who need them.

Power of Pink

The sixth annual Power of Pink relay will be Oct. 27 at the MedWest Health and Fitness Center in Clyde, on a new, easier course. The Survivor/Honor/Memory Walk will start at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K Race/Walk at 9:30 a.m. Registration for the 5k is $25 per person and $10 for the 1-mile Honor/Memory/Survivor Walk.
